The Creator of all Things

Yes, God created all things. This truth is foundational to the Christian worldview and is affirmed repeatedly throughout Scripture. The Bible teaches that everything that exists—whether visible or invisible, in heaven or on earth—was brought into being by God, for His purposes and glory.

God Created Everything That Exists

The very first verse of the Bible declares this truth:

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”— (Genesis 1:1).

This verse sets the tone for the rest of Scripture, affirming that God is the uncaused cause—the eternal Creator who brought all things into existence out of nothing (ex nihilo). There was nothing before God created; He alone is eternal (Psalm 90:2).

All Things Were Created Through and For Christ

The New Testament further clarifies that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, was not only present at creation but was the active agent through whom all things were made:

“For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.”— (Colossians 1:16).

This verse makes it clear that nothing exists apart from Christ’s creative work. He is not a created being, as some false teachings claim (e.g., Jehovah’s Witnesses), but the eternal Son of God through whom all creation came into being.

As Sam Shamoun points out in his article “The New World Translation Proves Jesus is Uncreated!”, even the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ own Bible translation (NWT) affirms that God created “all things” (Greek: ta panta), which includes everything in the universe. If Jesus created all things, then He Himself cannot be a created thing.

“From him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.”
(Romans 11:36).

This verse reinforces that all things originate from God, exist through His sustaining power, and ultimately exist for His glory.

Creation Reveals God’s Glory and Power

Creation is not random or purposeless. It reflects the wisdom, beauty, and power of its Creator. As (Psalm 19:1) says:

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”— (Psalm 19:1).

And as the article from our Ministry notes, the beauty of nature—from grain fields to mountain ranges—testifies to the intentional design and sustaining hand of the Creator.

Why Did God Create All Things?

God created all things for Himself—for His glory and to display His attributes. As the article from our ministry explains:

“The Bible says that God created all things—including us—for Himself. He is glorified in His creation. ‘From him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever!”— (Romans 11:36).

Though God knew that humanity would fall into sin, He still chose to create us, because His plan included redemption through Jesus Christ. In the end, His justice, mercy, and love are all magnified through His creation and His redemptive work.

How did He create all things?

God created all things by His Word, through His Son, and by the power of His Spirit. The Bible reveals that creation was not the result of random processes or natural forces, but the intentional act of a personal, all-powerful, and eternal God.

Let’s explore how God created all things, according to Scripture:

God Created by His Word

God spoke creation into existence. His Word carried the power to bring forth everything from nothing:

“And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.”— (Genesis 1:3).

This pattern continues throughout Genesis 1: “And God said…” is repeated again and again, showing that God’s Word is powerful and effective. He didn’t need tools or raw materials—He simply spoke, and it was.

The New Testament confirms this:

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”— (Hebrews 11:3).

This verse emphasizes that creation came from nothing (ex nihilo), not from pre-existing matter. God’s Word alone was sufficient.

God Created Through His Son, Jesus Christ

The Bible teaches that Jesus, the eternal Son of God, was the agent through whom all things were made:

“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”— (John 1:3).

“For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible… all things have been created through him and for him.”— (Colossians 1:16).

Jesus is not a created being—He is the eternal Word (Logos) who was with God and was God (John 1:1). He is the one through whom the Father brought all things into existence.

God Created by the Power of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit was also active in creation:

“Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”— (Genesis 1:2).

The Hebrew word for “hovering” (rachaph) conveys the idea of active, sustaining presence—like a bird caring for its young. The Spirit of God was present from the beginning, bringing order and life.

This aligns with the Trinitarian understanding of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit working together in perfect unity to create all things.

Summary: How Did God Create All Things?

By His Word – He spoke, and it came to be (Genesis 1:3; Hebrews 11:3).

Through His Son – Jesus is the divine agent of creation (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16).

By His Spirit – The Holy Spirit was present and active (Genesis 1:2).

Yes, God created all things—the heavens, the earth, and everything in them.

Jesus Christ is the eternal Creator, not a created being (Colossians 1:16).

All creation exists for God’s glory and reveals His power and divine nature (Romans 1:20).

This reveals the Triune nature of God in creation: one God in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit— working in harmony to bring the universe into existence.

Creation is not just a display of power, but also of wisdom, beauty, and purpose. As (Psalm 104:24) declares:

“How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.”
(Psalm 104:24).

God’s creation reflects His glory, and it invites us to worship Him as the Creator and Sustainer of all life.

Creation is not an accident—it is the intentional work of a loving and sovereign God.
